What is Guesty Liability Coverage?

Guesty Liability Coverage is an integrated insurance solution that protects property managers and owners from financial losses resulting from guest injuries or accidental damage to the property structure and neighboring assets. Unlike traditional insurance, it is embedded directly into your Guesty dashboard for seamless management.

Why isn't my standard homeowners insurance enough?

Most standard homeowners policies explicitly exclude "business activities," which include short-term renting. If a guest is injured, your personal policy could deny the claim, leaving you personally liable for legal and medical costs.

What is the difference between Damage Protection and Liability Coverage?

Guesty Damage Protection covers damage to belongings in your home, such as furniture that breaks as a result of a guest stay. Guesty Liability Coverage insures you against bodily injury to guests, physical damage to your home, and damage to neighboring properties that’s caused as a result of your visitors.

What specific incidents are covered?

The policy provides protection for bodily injury, falling object injury, physical damage to the property, and physical damage to neighboring properties.

What are the coverage limits?

Guesty Liability Coverage provides up to $1 million in protection per reservation.

What are common exclusions?

Typical exclusions include regular wear and tear, intentional damage caused by the host, natural disasters (like floods or hurricanes), and injuries related to certain recreational equipment (like ATVs or bikes) or alcohol distribution.

How much does Guesty Liability Coverage cost?

The service operates on a flexible pay-per-reservation model. You are only billed for nights with active bookings, meaning if there’s no occupancy, there’s no fee.

Where is this service available?

Currently, Guesty Liability Coverage is available for properties located in the United States. It covers various property types including houses, apartments, condos, villas, cabins, and bungalows.

Can I pass the cost on to my guests?

Yes. Many property managers choose to include the cost in their cleaning fee or create a specific "Property Protection Fee" to cover the premium without impacting their bottom line.

How do I file a claim?

Claims are handled entirely within the Guesty platform. You can submit details, upload photos, and track the status of your claim directly from your dashboard.

How long does claim resolution take?

Resolution times vary based on complexity. Minor property damage or soft-tissue injury claims may settle within 30 days, while more serious bodily injury claims can take 6 months or longer due to medical recovery timelines.
